With over four decades in the material handling industry, and a career shaped by both high-risk work and leadership in safety standards, Forkpro’s founder, Todd Brennan, has seen it all. From his early days as a professional motorcycle racer to working for one of the world’s largest forklift manufacturers, Todd has built a career around understanding and reducing risk.
Since 2002, Forkpro has been delivering nationally accredited, practical, and context-driven training across Australia. We’ve worked with industry standards committees, shaped safety practices, and built long-term partnerships, some spanning over 20 years, to make workplaces safer.
The risks are real:
- Around 1 million forklifts operate daily across Australia.
- Up to 30% of the working population has direct or indirect contact with material handling equipment every day.
- Many operators are unlicensed, but worse still, not fully competent to operate their machinery.
These statistics aren’t just numbers, they represent lives at stake every shift. That’s why Forkpro developed our Four Pillars of Fatality Prevention, a practical framework targeting the highest-risk areas where lives are too often lost.
1. Forklifts
Around 1 in 6 workplace deaths in Australia involve forklifts, and most are caused not by mechanical failure but by human error, poor visibility, or unsafe behaviours.
Our approach goes beyond compliance. We build operator skill, hazard awareness, and professionalism in real-world scenarios. We train on-site, in-context, using your equipment, assessing actual competence in the environment where the work happens.
Every load, every turn, every time, you take responsibility not just for the forklift, but for every life around it.
2. Falls from Height
From rooftops to mezzanines, truck edges to racking systems, falls from height are consistently one of the leading causes of workplace deaths. There’s no “safe” height for a fall, prevention is always the priority.
We teach workers to plan ahead, use fall protection correctly, and understand the why behind the rules. Because when you’re working at height, someone’s life is literally on the line.
3. Falling Loads
An unsecured or unstable load can crush, amputate, or kill in seconds. Whether it’s a swinging crane load, a collapsing stack, or a pallet tipping off a forklift, falling objects remain a major cause of fatalities.
Forkpro’s training embeds the behaviours and systems that keep loads, and people, safe. From rigging awareness to exclusion zones, we train teams to take control before the lift begins.
What goes up must come down… safely.
4. Fatigue
Fatigue slows reaction times, clouds judgment, and increases errors, often without visible warning signs. In high-risk environments, that’s deadly.
Our programs include human factors training, helping workers and leaders recognise fatigue, manage workloads, and protect their teams from an invisible but dangerous hazard.
What Makes Forkpro Different
Forkpro isn’t just a forklift training provider, we’re a one-stop shop for high-risk work training, from forklifts and working at heights to first aid, manual handling, and more. We deliver training that’s contextualised to your workplace and relevant to the hazards your people face every day.
And we don’t believe in “tick and flick” training. Competence isn’t a one-time event, it changes over time. That’s why we partner long-term with our clients, providing refresher training, reassessments, and continuous improvement to ensure skills remain sharp.
If you’re serious about safety, start where it matters most.
